As a recent graduate from the University of Stellenbosch with at least three years experience in a Higher Education leadership- and management position, and with a serious interest in languages, diplomacy and building lasting bridges between peoples of the world, I wish to become an English educator in The Republic of China (Taiwan). The very nature of international teaching lies in the development of people as well as key skills, in this case mastery of the English language. It is for this reason that I am seeking to apply. To use my leadership skills acquired at Stellenbosch University as Primarius (head of house) of my Private Student Organization and my TEFL qualification to teach English abroad, in this case to aid Taiwanese citizens in mastering the English language. As a committed student leader at the University of Stellenbosch I have always executed tasks diligently, in conjunction with a team of 8 other Committee members. Acting as head of the House Committee, I was responsible for an intake of some 130 new students each year, with my 2nd term being concluded in October 2020. I have learnt the value and inner-workings of team collaboration, effective project- and program management as well as lending administrative support to my team as Primarius. I am always prepared to take full responsibility for my work, and accountability is of paramount value to me. My most important asset is my ability to conduct myself professionally, tactfully and to listen to and anticipate the needs of an organization and its stakeholders in a diligent fashion. I believe I am ready to translate these skills into the teaching profession, making a lasting impact on my students. My field study being International Relations - with a pronounced emphasis placed on transnational collaboration, human rights and global trade - has also equipped me with both soft and hard skills to take on the challenges faced by many in the new century, including bridging the language gap.
