Hi, I’m Robert James Jardine, a 32-year-old male from South Africa; I am married with no children. I hold a Bachelor of Education, and I have 5 years of classroom teaching experience in the subjects of English and History for Grades 10-12 (15 to 18-year-olds). I have had training in amanuensis and invigilation for exam purposes; furthermore, I have been employed as a marker by SACAI for the South African National Senior Certificate (NSC). I value the potential of education to grant individuals a fulfilled life and stimulate the societies in which we live. I have also studied music, Jazz in particular. I play the double bass, starting at high-school in the big band, as well as in the orchestra; I have continued to play music in numerous settings. I can teach double bass technique to beginners or the basics of jazz music theory using the piano. I enjoy learning new music by ear whether its pop, classical or cultural. Music as a discipline aligns with my values for education – it, too, provides self-knowledge to the individual and communities are always the better for the expression it brings. I believe that I can contribute to the holistic education of the individuals under my responsibility, but, more importantly, the opportunity to teach in a new environment and experience the culture, the cities, farms and nature, the chance to share moments… is part of my own journey of being a life-long learner.
