    I became a teacher as I graduated from college, but I've spent most of my life learning how to help others become better communicators and writers. I was a newspaper editor for three years while I was in college. During that time I taught many reporters and journalists how to write, and how to write in a way that made them easy to understand. It can be very difficult to write clearly, and I have a great deal of practice helping young people learn how to do it. I can help your students develop their writing skills, including the writing they will need for American college applications and portfolios. I have been an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher for the past year. Additionally, I have a 120-hour TEFL certification and a substitute teaching license from the USA. In other words, I have a good combination of teaching theory and experience. A lot of my teaching experience has been in Taiwan, so I also have experience working in an intercultural and international workplace. While I'm young, and at the start of my career, I will still bring a good combination of skills and experience to teaching at your school. Let me give you an example of how I teach in Taiwan. I have a class of Junior High School students who I am teaching to read, analyze, and write informational papers. To do so, I asked them to read an article and check their comprehension by writing down their answers to the six “question words.” All of the students were pleased and surprised to see how much information they could understand and summarize. As we repeated and extended the exercise, all the students were able to analyze even difficult-to-read articles, simply by using the vocabulary and ideas that they already knew. As a result, I’ve been able to build both their confidence and competence with regard to their English-language skills.
