Hello, my name is Maria Nilma P. Consarba, 25 years old and a licensed professional teacher in the Philippines for almost 5 years now. I am an ESL Teacher at 51Talk English International. I teach Chinese students ranging from 5 years old to 40 years old. I graduated as a scholar at Bohol Island State University with a Bachelor's Degree of Secondary Education majoring in English language. I took and passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers in 2018 and Civil Service Professional in the same year. I completed my 120-hour TESOL/TEFL Certificate from World TESOL Academy focusing on a complete range of topics surrounding the teaching of the English language to non-native students, both in an overseas and online classroom environment. I also earned these certifications: I earned certifications on Quality Assurance Frameworks in Flexible Learning; Strategies in Literacy Skills Development for 21st Century Teachers and School Leaders; Alternative Trends and Models in Education 5.0 for 21st Century Educators and School Leaders; Innovative Education and Project Based Learning for School Heads and Teachers; Foundations in Self-4improvement for a Better Tomorrow; Challenges, Opportunities & Best Practices in Management During this Pandemic; Effective Communication Skills and Planning and Delegating Among Leaders, Building Collaborative and Inclusive Working Relationship; Gearing up Education 5.0 to the 5th Industrial Revolution, Interactive and Inclusive Working Relationship, and 120-hour course on English as a Medium of Instruction. I have firsthand experience teaching in a regular classroom having 40-45 students in a single classroom and being a homeroom teacher too. Although effective teaching varies in teaching style depending on the nature of the subject matter, phase of the course, and students' age group, I personally love to teach with a delegating style. I do believe that learning is an experience in itself. The more they engage, the more they learn. My classes are always fun, engaging, creative, interesting, and product-oriented. I want my student to develop independence and creativity in learning because learning is having a product. In my class, there is always room for improvement. Students should acknowledge mistakes and mark that for learning. I speak Filipino, Cebuano Visayan, and English. I am learning how to speak Mandarin and Korean. Thanks to Duolingo. As an Asian, I am proud of our culture, we are deeply connected to each other. Our students may have different backgrounds, but deep inside they share common traits, values, and culture. It is my desire to ignite in them their innate kindness and talents. That is self-actualization to me, and I will be very happy if I could have the opportunity to teach English at your school.
