Good day! I am Jo Ann Marie Belinario, a licensed professional English teacher from the Philippines. I graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila with a degree in Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English as a Cum Laude and San Lorenzo Working Scholar. For my master’s degree, I graduated from the De La Salle University, Manila with a degree in Master of Arts in Teaching major in English Language as a Graduate Financial Assistance Grantee. For 11 years, I have taught in St. Theresa’s College Quezon City, an exclusive school for girls in the Philippines. In the said school, I dedicated 2 years of my teaching profession in the Grade School Department and 9 years in the High School Department. I have handled varied classes such as reading and language, Philippine, Asian, and British- American Literatures, and Journalism. My life mission as a teacher is to continue to mold young generations to become bearers of hope, artisans of peace, and productive citizens of the global village. I embrace this mission as I celebrate my eleventh year in teaching. Teaching allows me to grow and be innovative as an educator because I constantly look for creative methods to actively engage my students in class and equip them with the 21st century competencies. I make sure to provide a transformative and quality education by creating exciting and relevant activities that revitalize and challenge my students to be critical thinkers, empowered individuals, effective communicators, and lifelong learners. Aside from classroom instruction, I have also been given opportunities that exemplify my skills and expertise as a writing coach, speech coach, news magazine moderator, debate moderator, homeroom adviser, leadership program facilitator, community involvement facilitator, and international linkages program head. These different roles and designation were made possible because of my dynamism, determination, and dedication to my craft. My dynamism, determination, and dedication to this vocation holds me grounded and focused in accomplishing tasks and responsibilities despite the grueling and uncertain circumstances and challenges. That is why during the last three years of online teaching, I was assigned to lead the virtual interaction with the Obayashi Sacred Heart School of Japan. It has allowed me to remain indefatigable as the program head because it challenged me to become a flexible, effective, and efficient leader and communicator as I coordinate and collaborate with my counterpart from the aforementioned school. The primary goals of the program are to hone the communication skills in the English language and to instill among the students a genuine love and respect for their own culture while manifesting cultural sensitivity, appreciation for diversity, willingness to learn other people's customs and practices, and deep concern for the environment which are also prevailing characteristics among the Taiwanese people. With my undying commitment and passion in teaching the English Language, I aim to inculcate the value of the English language as a tool to bridging gaps not only in communication but also in cultural understanding with a greater purpose of conceptualizing solutions that will contribute to the betterment of the world. With this, I am confident that I will be able to effectively render my knowledge and expertise to my future Taiwanese students. Thank you for your time and consideration.
