Hello! My name is Betsy and in May 2023, I will be graduating my Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. I obtained my TEFL certificate last summer through Via Lingua and am excited to teach in Taiwan. I have many experiences teaching and tutoring people across many ages. I've taught math to elementary students informally as well as tutored in a one-on-one setting, both peers and children elementary through high school. Throughout college, I've worked as a behavior technician, implementing applied behavioral analysis for autistic individuals and have many experiences working with neurodiverse individuals. In whatever setting I teach in, I utilize a strengths/asset based model to enhance engagment and promote a positive attitude towards learning. My minors in Occupational Science and Speech-Language and Hearing Professions have given me insight on how to cultivate an environment that increases learning. Overall, I am an individual passionate about education and loves seeing the lightbulb go off as students learn. Aside from teaching, I love traveling which is a large factor for why I want to teach in Taiwan. There is so much culture to be learned, not to mention the amazing food! I grew up in the United States with immigrant parents who spoke Mandarin and broken English to me. Currently, my Mandarin is only conversational so I would love to enhance my Mandarin by being fully immersed in Taiwan. I also love being in nature and being active!
