As a laoshi, I believe that my responsibilities do not simply end in the four corners of the classroom, but it encompasses our daily lives, every little thing we think, do and say. Our task as teachers is to ensure that we are imparting knowledge, mores and morals expected in the society. Teachers must be committed and consistent in keeping these values in high regard. As a teacher for five years, I have devoted and spent my time enhancing my knowledge and experience. I have decided to work abroad to broaden my experience in teaching and took up TESOL (Teachers of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) to properly assess the needs of my students and nurture their strengths as learners. During my time abroad, I realized that a positive outlook has a great connection with success. My experiences molded me in becoming a better educator. I know that I would be a kind of teacher that would not put any students in awkward and embarrassing situations. I am committed in making my lessons immensely fun and interactive. It is important to highlight that as a teacher my duty is not to judge but to guide, to kindle interest and to inspire my students to learn the language.
