I am Fatima Varon Gonzales, a licensed professional teacher in the Philippines. I graduated from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Major in Operations Management. I have my Certificate in Teaching from the University of Antique. I grew up admiring educators because of the profound influence they had on every student. They placed a high value on education and learning. I admire them, but to be honest, it was not my priority course. I was in college when I realized I really had it-a passion for teaching. For me, teaching has always been a calling and a passion that drove me at every turn, not just a job.The joy I experience when I influence students and mold their thoughts. The joy of imparting knowledge and the fulfillment of making difference. However, at some point, I found myself lost. I began questioning my purpose and my abilities and, most importantly, my passion for teaching. An identity crisis took hold of me, feeling anxious and dissatisfied with how I had become. Seeking answers, I explored different fields and career, hoping to find fulfillment elsewhere. I considered other work, but last September 2024, I became a lecturer at Knowledge Hive. It is an interactive mobile science museum. Teaching at Knowledge Hive, even for a short period of time, was a transformative experience because I long for that kind of feeling and fulfillment. Since it is a mobile science museum, it provided a unique platform where learning came alive through hands-on exploration and curiosity-driven discovery. Watching students faces light up with excitement as they learn new concepts is indescribable joy. The voices of those students being grateful and being called a teacher, teaching became meaningful again because I chose to see the beauty in it once more. After Knowledge Hive, I was offered an ESL teaching position at MIT International School. Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) comes with challenges, especially with students from different backgrounds. But when it comes to teaching, there's no barrier in it because a teacher always has a way to connect. I am not also new to ESL because I have experience with it way back in 2019. And that experience helps me relate to my students and guide them with empathy. Teaching a foreign language may have limits, but my passion, patience, and commitment break those limits, and it was a rewarding journey. I firmly believed that my capability and experiences would allow me to become part of your institution. Each day I strive not only to teach but to inspire, reminding that learning is constant and life never stops teaching. To end this, I say it is a true fulfillment when passion and career align together. Passion may sometimes fade, but with the right spark, it can always be reignited. I am Fatima Varon Gonzales, with a heart of purpose, grateful for the second chance to do what I love.
