Hello, my name is Jay L. Solano, 27 years old and I am from the country of the Philippines where English is an official language. I’m a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English at Kapalong College of Agriculture Sciences and Technology, year 2019. I have also completed the academic requirements of Master in Arts and Education major in English at Saint Mary’s College of Tagum. I am a Licensed Professional Teacher which means I am qualified to teach kids and adults. I am also a certified 120-Hour TEFL or Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate holder. I have a total of 2 and a half year of teaching experience in both Senior High School and College Academy in one of the private schools the Philippines. Also, I am teaching Chinese students in the context of international online classroom. Currently, I am affiliated in one of the schools here in Thailand and work as a Foreign English Teacher. The methods and styles I used in teaching depends on the lessons and the needs of the learners. Some effective styles include, active learning – where students engage in hands on activities, discussions, and group work to apply concept. This can also be called a student-centered approach. Another approach is, communicative language teaching – where my learners practice language through real life situations and interactions, additionally, incorporating technology and multi-media – can enhance their learning such as video lesson with video effects just like what I did here in my introduction video. My teaching philosophies guide me in my teaching career and these are the following: I make sure that I foster an environment in a classroom that values and respects all students; improve the 5 macro skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing); encourage students to think critically and independently by applying HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills);Use interesting and relevant content to encourage learners’ enjoyment to learning; give learners encouragement and constructive feedbacks to help them develop their skills and abilities, and serve as a positive example of career and lifetime learning. My passion and love for teaching English motivates me to help learners learn English in fun and educational way. I am also energetic, adoptive, versatile and eager to learn new things. I love English and I hope you can feel my passion.
